John Burrows

John Burrows

Senior Lecturer in Leadership, The University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy

John Burrows’s academic home is the University of Chicago, where he is a Senior Lecturer at the Harris School of Public Policy. He is also the Faculty Lead for Harris’s Evening Master’s Program (EMP). In addition, John holds an appointment as an Associate Fellow at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, where he teaches EMBA and MBA students negotiations each summer. John earned his MBA and PhD in Behavioral Science from Booth and holds an undergraduate degree from Vassar. Before moving into academia, John began his professional career at Arthur Andersen, eventually becoming a partner at Accenture. His expertise was not limited to consulting; he also assumed senior roles in sales and marketing at enterprise software companies such as MicroStrategy, Siebel, and Oracle. In these roles, John negotiated, managed, and implemented complex, multinational, multimillion-dollar projects. His work spanned across continents, building and growing operations in the UK, USA, and Japan, and encompassing business development, international joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

Caroline Johnson

Lecturer, The University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy

Caroline Johnson was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 2009. Upon commissioning as a Naval Officer, she joined the elite Naval Aviation community and began flight training in Pensacola, Florida. In 2011, she was awarded her wings of gold and designated a Naval Flight Officer, more specifically, an F/A-18 Weapons Systems Officer, and she was awarded the Paul F. Lawrence award for top strike fighter graduate and was also recognized as the overall top graduate.

During her final tour on active duty, Caroline returned to the United States Naval Academy, where she was a Senior Leadership Instructor and Aviation Operations Officer. During her instructor tour, she was consistently ranked as one of the top leadership instructors in the 35+ member Leadership, Ethics, and Law Department. Currently in the Navy Reserves, Caroline continues her service as an advisor and liaison officer for a Fort Worth-based task force.

Transitioning to the private sector, Caroline published her memoir, JET GIRL, in November 2019 and was featured on the Today Show, Fox & Friends, and MSNBC. Currently, she is a professional leadership speaker appearing at Google, Harvard, Merrill Lynch, and SAP, among others. Professionally, she has worked for extended periods at private sector companies like Point72 and Gartner, and has managed her sole proprietorship.

Faculty-Led Live-Online Sessions

This program features three live-online sessions—a unique opportunity to put theory into practice immediately to amplify your learning and see results. These required sessions not only offer an opportunity to reflect and receive real-time feedback with faculty and peers, but also integrate interactive that can only be taught in a live environment. Participants are expected to attend at least two of the three live sessions to maximize their growth. If a participant is unable to attend a session, an extra asynchronous assignment must be submitted to complete the program.
